في الواقع اول ما تقع عيني على اديب ، شاعر كان او روائي او قاص ابحث عن نوع المصيبة التي جعلت عقله يعمل بطاقة البوزيترون فاصبح مبدعا فذا ولا استغرب حينما اجد ان ابداع المع الاسماء كان سره دائما الموت.

هذا الشاعر ليس اسثناء:

John Berryman

was born and raised in Oklahoma until the age of 10, when his father, John Smith, a banker, and his mother, who was a schoolteacher, moved to Tampa, Florida.

In 1926, in Florida, when the poet was twelve, his father shot and killed himself just outside his son's bedroom window.
وعندما كان الشاعر في سن الثانية عشره اطلق الاب على نفسه النار خارج شباك غرفة نوم الشاعر

Berryman would later write about his father's suicide in poems from The Dream Songs.
وقد كتب الشاعر في وقت لاحق عن انتحار والده في مجموعة اغاني الحلم

In "Dream Song #143," he wrote,

that mad drive [to commit suicide] wiped out my childhood.
I put him down/while all the same on forty years I love him/stashed in Oklahoma/besides his brother Will."

في الاغنية رقم 143 كتب يقول :
" ان انتحار والدي مسح طفولتي.

In "Dream Song #145," he also wrote the following lines about his father:
he only, very early in the morning,
rose with his gun and went outdoors by my window
and did what was needed.

وفي لاغنية رقم 145 كتب :
لقد قام في الصباح الباكر
وحمل مسدسه
وخرج الى فناء المنزل الى جوار نافذتي
وفعل ما كان لازما

I cannot read that wretched mind, so strong
& so undone. I've always tried. I–I'm
trying to forgive
لم استطع ان افهم ذلك العقل
لقد حاولت وما ازال احاول ان اغفر

whose frantic passage, when he could not live
an instant longer,in the summer dawn
left Henry to live on.

After his father's death, the poet's mother remarried another banker who was also named John, and they moved to New York City.

Her new husband's last name was Berryman, and the poet took this last name, giving him the same exact name as his stepfather.
كان الاسم الاخير للزوج الام الجديد Berryman ومنه اخذ الشاعر اسمه الاخير حيث اطلق عليه نفس اسم زوج الام الجديد

Although his stepfather would later divorce his mother, Berryman and his stepfather stayed on good terms.
على الرغم ان زوج الام طلق الوالدة في وقت لاحق لكن العلاقة بقيت جيدة بين زوج الام والشاعر

His stepfather sent him to a private school in Connecticut (South Kent School).
ارسله زوج امه ليتعلم ي مدرسة في كنكتوت

Then Berryman went on to graduate from Columbia College in 1936. He also studied overseas at Clare College, Cambridge, on a Kellett Fellowship, awarded by Columbia.
