Shall I Compare Thee to a summer’s Day (XVIII)

William Shakespeare
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance , or nature’s changing course, untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall death brag thou wanderest in his shade
When in eternal lines to time thou growest.
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Mr. Hisham
I think no Englsih Poet attracts the world critics and literary figures as Shakespeare does.
The poem of your choice is of his best poems, and the translation you give for the very first lines is excellent.
I wish you would've completed the poem.

dear Hisham
I studied this poem in the college
and I knew then that it was a masterpiece in shakespearian works
shakespeare was not very productive to poetry in the same way he was to the world of drama and theatre.
however this very poem is very beautiful
It is full of similies and colours which enrich the poem
I appreciate highly your taste Hisham
thanks alot
